The history of Helios Resins dates back to 1908, when production was launched in Medvode, Slovenia. At that time, seed oil was pressed and then further processed in a procedure that paved the way for the production of alkyd resins in that same location in 1964. In 1969, the production of alkyd and polyester resins started at the plant in Domžale. Acrylic resins were added to the production line at that location in 1983.

Today, the production of synthetic resins takes place at two locations, Domžale and Medvode. Helios Resins is a separate business unit of Helios, now part of Kansai Paint, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paints and coatings.
